When we bench-marked equipment damage against other hospitals our damage rate was significantly lower. This was because we required that all departments purchase only Pryor Poles with the black ring and the rings served as an excellent bumpers to prevent equipment from being damaged.
Although on rare occasions, the black rings were damaged, we found that the costs of replacing the rings was far less than the costs of repairing damaged equipment.
I agree with Frank, we ONLY buy Pryor poles. We have some 20 years old that work just like new. Only had a few black rings broken over the years. Steve Hilty
